‘Lip Sync Battle Shorties’ Grabs Series Order From Nickelodeon
Starz brings "Insomnia" to MIPCOM
The collaboration among Viacom cable networks is stepping up a notch with Nickelodeon handing a 10-episode order to a kid-centric spin on Spike TV’s “Lip Sync Battle” franchise.
“Lip Sync Battle Shorties” will feature everyday kids competing to perform pop songs in lip-sync challenges. The grown-up version, which features celebrities at the mic, has become Spike TV’s most-watched original series ever since its 2015 debut.
Announcing Mac & Me Productions
The programmes include drama series Insomnia and The White Princess. The former comprises an 8-episode hour-long dramatic action series from executive producer and director Slava N. Jakovleff and executive producer Michael Ohoven, and stars Shaun Sipos, Dylan Everett and Pasha Lychnikoff. It focuses on a game forcing strangers to play with their lives at stake. Twenty contestants must kill or be killed, set against the backdrop of Moscow with all contestants having been injected with a poison – if they fall asleep, they die. This first season is a closed-book story, where the winner is decided in the final episode. In each instalment the game will be played in a different city with different characters. Starz acquired the series for all worldwide rights from Welldone Production.
